 Palanquin of Hope

Telugu Title - Ashala pallaki

Author : Garimella Nageswara rao

Translator : N.S.Rachakonda

From where does this past come up? Knowing that I am alone

She reaches me silently

Like beloved walking without anklets

She opens the doors of my thoughts

Abruptly as it were

Holds me by the hand

And drags me into the by lanes of memory

In pinching the cheeks of childhood for a while,

Lets me bathe in the mischievous pranks of childhood

Winking once more at the silly behaviour of the youth,

And when floating on waves happiness,

In an ecstatic mood reaching the sweet moments of the past

The villain of the present period drags me into reality

And scoffs at me laughingly.

While in my innermost mind I tell myself

how nice it would be to remain forever in the past

Hope consoles me saying "why so sad? There is always a future"

From then on swinging on thoughts

And with trust in the future

I taking out a procession of my ideas in a palanquin of hopes

Till a day arise which I can call as my own.
